hi, hello!
It’s good to have your eyes and ears. Here’s what I’ve been listening to for the past month.
It’s fully summer in Austin now, most days in the 90s and blindingly sunny. This time of year always makes me slow down. The heat is exhausting, just being in it. I spend most days in air conditioning or at the pool.
With that comes music that invites slowing down. Most of the albums I’ve listened to this month are slow, simple, and soft like Damien Rice, Erin Mat & Paul (Erin Rae, Twain, and Paul DeFiglia), Logan Ledger, Bonny Light Horseman, and Montell Fish. One of my favorite songs I’ve listened to this month has been Montell Fish’s “Fall in Love with You.” - a perfect gold hour love song.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, I occassionally find myself listening to loud, full music to keep from having too sluggish of a summer. Music that makes me want to move or play at full volume, driving windows down. This ranges from jazzy (like Madi Sipes & The Painted Blue, Hiatus Kaiyote) to ethereal (Melody's Echo Chamber) to pop/electronic (Anna of the North, Swimming Paul, Washed Out).
To balance things out, here are tunes that are somewhere in the middle of soft and loud.
